*The 83rd Annual Golden Globes marked the official launch of awards season, with comedian and actress Nikki Glaser returning to host the ceremony on January 11 from The Beverly Hilton.
Airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, the night celebrated standout achievements across film, television, and podcasting. Several winners immediately emerged as strong contenders in the broader Academy Awards conversation.
Glaser’s opening monologue set a sharp tone, delivering rapid-fire jokes aimed squarely at Hollywood. Among the most talked-about lines was her crack about the Epstein list: “There are so many A-listers – and by A-listers I do mean people who are on ‘a list’ that has been heavily redacted… The Golden Globe for best editing goes to the Justice Department.”
On the film side, “One Battle After Another” dominated, winning Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, along with trophies for director Paul Thomas Anderson and supporting actress Teyana Taylor. Taylor earned her first Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture, while Anderson also took home Best Screenplay honors. “Hamnet” claimed Best Motion Picture — Drama and delivered a major acting win for Jessie Buckley, now widely viewed as an Oscars frontrunner.

Other notable film winners included Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent” and Rose Byrne for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.” Timothée Chalamet secured his first Golden Globe for “Marty Supreme.” The box office juggernaut “Sinners” earned the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.
Television honors were led by “Adolescence,” which collected four awards, including wins for Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and Owen Cooper. “The Pitt” and “The Studio” also emerged strong, with Noah Wyle and Seth Rogen winning lead acting prizes. Jean Smart continued her awards streak with another Globe for “Hacks.”
The ceremony also introduced its first competitive podcast category, with Amy Poehler becoming the inaugural winner for “Good Hang With Amy Poehler.” Special honors went to Helen Mirren, who received the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Sarah Jessica Parker, who was presented with the Carol Burnett Award.
