George Santos Suggests Cory Booker Is Hiding Something
*Just when you thought George Santos couldn’t post anything wilder, the expelled congressman hopped on X to question Cory Booker’s recent wedding. As we reported, the 56-year-old senator from New Jersey married Alexis Lewis in a low-key ceremony, but Santos wasn’t buying it.
Replying to a post about the wedding, Santos wrote, “I married my first wife before I came out of the closet and there is nothing wrong with that,” comparing Booker’s marriage to his own one-time union with a woman before coming out.
Santos Compares Booker’s Wedding to His Own Closet Days
Santos, who was married to a Brazilian woman from 2012 to 2019, suggested Booker’s marriage was a strategic move. He framed it as a familiar cover-up tactic — marry a woman, dodge rumors, rinse, repeat.
Booker, of course, has never claimed to be anything other than straight. But that didn’t stop Santos from airing 20-year-old speculation like it was breaking news. Because nothing says “I’m healed” like projecting on a newlywed.

The Internet Wasn’t Having It
It didn’t take long for X users and media outlets to pounce on Santos’ comment. Many called it petty, invasive, and, frankly, ironic coming from a man best known for lying about everything from his resume to his name.
Some even noted the poetic symmetry: A fabulist known for fabricating his life story now speculating on someone else’s. If that’s not full-circle chaos, what is?
Quick Recap: Booker’s Marriage Was Actually Kind of Sweet
Booker, who had been a longtime bachelor, married 38-year-old Alexis Lewis on Nov. 24, in a quiet civil ceremony in Newark. Their parents were the only guests. Federal Judge Julien Xavier Neals officiated.
The couple followed up with a D.C. reception five days later that included Italian pastries and a vegan cookie dough cake. Because Cory Booker is going to Cory Booker.
From Blind Date to Wedding Cake in 18 Months
The love story began in May 2024 when Booker and Lewis met on a blind date. Things moved fast: they moved in together by April 2025 and got engaged during a Hawaiian vacation that August.
Booker posted the big news to Instagram in October, calling Lewis “one of the greatest unearned blessings of [his] life.” That probably didn’t sit well with online trolls allergic to joy.

Booker’s Been Dealing With These Rumors for Decades
Let’s be clear: This isn’t the first time someone has questioned Booker’s sexuality. Rumors have trailed him since his Newark mayor days, mostly because he was single, expressive, and—gasp—empathetic.
He told The Washington Post in 2013 that he felt “great dismay“ at not having settled down with a partner, but stated he did not mind the personal queries.
“To people who think I’m gay, some part of me thinks it’s wonderful,” Booker said. “Because I want to challenge people on their homophobia… I hope you are not voting for me because you are making the presumption that I’m straight.”
Santos: The Gift That Keeps on Lying
George Santos was once hailed as a breakthrough: the first openly gay, non-incumbent Republican elected to Congress. Then came the scandals, the lies, the indictments—and finally, the boot from Congress in 2023.
Since then, he’s turned X into his personal chaos diary. Posting wild takes, burning bridges, and turning every news cycle into a sideshow. Attacking Booker is just the latest entry in his never-ending drama.
Booker Hasn’t Responded—And He Probably Won’t
As of Dec. 1, Booker has remained silent about Santos’ comments. Which tracks, because he’s usually busy doing things like passing legislation or officiating same-sex weddings, as he did in 2013.
He’s long supported LGBTQ+ rights, including the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling in 2015. So while Santos is posting through it, Booker’s probably sipping green tea and ignoring the noise.
