*“I overfill my plate,” said multi-award-winning Folk/Rock artist Frank Viele when I pointed out the many shows he has booked for February. “Early on in my career…I played locally. Stayed in the community before venturing out. Now I work 9-5, then play shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Connecticut and on tour in New England…because I am still close to Connecticut.”
As a result, New England has adopted Frank Viele. He has won the New England Music Awards for “Independent Artist of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” “Male Performer of the Year,” twice as “Songwriter of the Year,” and “Live Performer of the Year.” He has a lucrative songwriting career with his songwriting partners Jimmy Nutt and James LeBlanc (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill).
“I was first nominated (by the New England Music Awards) in 2010. I didn’t win until 2015,” Viele explained. “It’s a regional music awards. It is good for setting the bar, and you get exposed to great artists, touring, and learning.”
Currently, Frank is promoting his new EP “The Silo” (Bigger Beast Records) to be released on February 20, 2026. The lead single from the EP is a cover of the Bob Seger hit “Against the Wind.” Frank Viele’s version is unrecognizable until he starts singing the hook. What skills must he possess to be able to change it up in a way that it, too, will be a hit? The second single released from the five-track EP is the title song “The Silo.”
“I played that song (“Against the Wind”) for years…playing it in soundcheck,” Frank said when I asked why that cover song. “…said, you should play it on your set. So, it became part of my show as an opening song.”

Frank Viele wrote four of the tracks on “The Silo” EP and co-produced the project. On his YouTube Channel, he has amassed 230,000 views for his “Trying to Raise a Man” music video, and his music video for his Bob Seger cover “Against the Wind” has already 200,000 views, and it was released just 3 weeks ago. His YouTube Channel has an amazing 77,000 subscribers.
“The EP is produced by Lee DeWyze, who was on the 9th season of ‘American Idol.’ I opened up for him hundreds of times. He said, why have you never recorded it (“Against the Wind”)?’ I loved the idea. It’s a great song.” Frank pointed out.
Nico Grossfeld also co-produced Frank Viele’s “The Silo.”
“I love the original…it’s for someone fighting against the current. I slowed it down, so you hear the lyrics instead of the vibe,” he added. “Even when I write my stuff…I sit back and say, ‘What happens if I…”
If you are in his area, you can see his powerful performances on February 6, 2026, in Meriden, CT; February 7th in Pawling, NY; February 10 in Maynard, MA; February 11th in Portsmouth, NH; February 13 in Biddeford, ME, and you can see the rest at www.FrankViele.com.
“I started my indie label Bigger Beast. I do 250 concerts a year for non-profits to expose artists…meet them, know their stories. We have local Open Mics. We help animals get adopted. Hold workshops on business. You learn what to do by making mistakes,” Frank said about how he is giving back to the community that helped him, as we ended our interview.
