*Rapper Finesse2tymes has found himself back in federal custody, with prosecutors accusing him of violating his supervised release conditions.
The allegations stem from his arrest earlier this year in Texas for terroristic threats, along with two failed drug tests, TMZ reports. Finesse, whose legal name is Ricky Hampton, reportedly surrendered to authorities on Friday, as confirmed by his attorney, Carl A. Moore. In documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors outlined the violations, claiming that the hip-hop star failed two drug tests: one in 2022 and another in 2024, both testing positive for marijuana. The third alleged violation centers on his recent arrest in Texas.
The terroristic threats charge comes from an incident in October 2024 involving a child star named King, whom Finesse had been mentoring. According to King’s then-guardian, Finesse allegedly showed her a gun concealed under his shirt and said he would “up that fire,” a phrase from Memphis slang meaning to pull out a gun. The guardian, who feared for her safety, reported the incident to authorities, believing Finesse2tymes was capable of carrying out the threat.
Back in January, when the incident first came to light, Finesse’s attorney denied the allegations. Moore told TMZ that they were “confident this matter will be resolved justly once the state of Texas applies the applicable law to the facts,” maintaining that Finesse had never threatened anyone.
Finesse2tymes was released in 2022 after serving just over three years of a five-year sentence for firearm possession as a convicted felon and has been under supervised release since.
His next court hearing is scheduled for May 8, where he will face the consequences of these alleged violations.
