*Fat Joe has sparked intense online controversy after appearing on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast. During the discussion, he addressed the origins of hip-hop and criticized the Foundational Black Americans (FBA), descendants of Black slaves who can trace their bloodline lineage back to the system of slavery in the U.S.
Joe referred to FBAs as “broke Black racists” in response to their claims that Latinos played no significant role in the early development of hip-hop. This remark drew widespread criticism and backlash on social media, but many fans defended the rapper’s comments.
“These rumors were made by radical Black racists,” Joe said on the podcast released Saturday (Dec. 21). “They criticize anyone who ain’t Black American and use social media to attack others,” Joe said, before labeling the group as “broke Black racists.”
As Soap Opera Central reports, Fat Joe’s comments ignited a heated debate online. One person said the rapper has been “hanging around Remy Ma too long.”

“But did he lie?” another X user asked.
“i just feel like he ate. Y’all only mad because he’s Mexican but he didn’t lie and this don’t make him racist. He should stop saying ni*ga tho,” someone else noted.
“That’s what this is about? How did this come back? Social media will bring up old ish just to have something to be outraged about, but when some of us said something when it originally happened we were just haters. Are we all mad together now? Asking for a friend. Lol,” another commented.
“He shouldn’t speak on Black business at all,” a fourth critic noted.
