*Project 2025 has loomed like a Lovecraftian beast upon progressive-minded Americans’ collective psyche since it first became public knowledge. Donald Trump and his cronies distanced themselves from it, initially.
With the presidency in hand, the incoming Trumpers have uttered a collective ‘Psyche!’ regarding their prior attempts at telling us all that this was not a roadmap to dismantle any gains made for women, the disabled, and handicapped the LBGQT community, and Black people-specially, African Americans.
Project 2025: What Is It?
The “presidential transition” plan is a 900-page step-by-step conservative playbook and is a virtual “Conservative Presidency for Dummies” for President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming team. It was crafted by conservative groups such as The Heritage Foundation, a Washington conservative lobby group that supposedly wants to “rescue the country.” It is a federal authority power grab that will collapse numerous powers into the president’s wheelhouse.
The chains have been loosened, the cage unlocked, and Project 2025, the monstrous usurping force of conservative Republican get-back, lumbers ever closer to realizing its horrific potential.

Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated for his second term as president of the United States in a matter of weeks. Trump has stated in no uncertain words that he would use the Justice Department and the U.S. military to go after his political enemies as well as groups that oppose him when he is reelected.
African Americans are more likely to believe in progressive ideas than any other race or ethnic group as illustrated in the voting numbers of the last presidential election. No group of people is more vehemently anti-Trump than native-born individuals of African descent.
Donald Trump is nothing if not self-aggrandizing, narcissistic and petty. Thus, it is no stretch of the imagination that he will weaponize Project 2025 against Black folks. In other words, heads up. They’re about to drop some ish.
Education
Project 2025 seeks to defund public education in favor of private schools, eliminate diversity and inclusion programs, as well as protections for students of color. (Most Black students attend a public school and will immediately be affected by any cuts). Reductions or wholesale elimination of minority scholarships will have obvious negative effects on Black folk as well.
Corrections
Project 2025 spells out how the administration can increase policing, reduce funding for community-based correctional options, increase incarceration, eliminate programs designed to address systemic and racism in the justice system.

Civil Rights
Project 2025 represents a clear and present danger to decades of advancements in civil rights and equity programs that directly affect African Americans. Project 2025 will seek to dissolve hard-fought programs related to affirmative action. Also, it weakens anti-discrimination laws and renders the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission inert.
Who is deemed “radical left” and who is not, is color-coded.
Healthcare
Project 2025 spells out a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, reductions in Medicaid, and the liquidation of programs and health programs in Black communities. Increased health costs and worsening health are on the horizon for the Black community.
Environmental Racism
The Project 2025 document also contains language that would lead to increased environmental racism. It seeks to eliminate ecological protections, prioritizing industrial, and corporate interests over health concerns. The Flint Water Crisis is an example of how this could happen. Black and minority communities are especially sensitive to any deregulation efforts.

Epilogue
On November 21, the House of Representatives passed a bill that gives the Treasury Department the ability to strip the tax-exempt status from non-profit organizations. Many Black non-profit organizations, philanthropic organizations, and civil rights organizations would vaporize without tax exemption. If passed into law, it is a saber he will likely rattle to silence his critics in those areas.
“This bill is an authoritarian play by Republicans to expand the sweeping powers of the executive branch, to go after political enemies and stifle political dissent,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal, the chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said on the House floor ahead of the vote.
The bill now goes to the Senate, which will be controlled by Republicans in its upcoming session.
