*Ask Egypt Sherrod what it takes to get on her level and she’ll attribute the small-screen success she shares with her husband Mike Jackson to “hard work, strong family bonds, and dedication.”
Those three factors are a big part of why Jackson and Sherrod have a long-standing hit with “Married To Real Estate.” The HGTV series, which premiered in 2022, features the couple working together to renovate fixer-upper homes into dream homes for clients
Taking it all in, Sherrod notes how much of a “testament” her show is for her and her husband.
“This show has been an amazing journey for our family to share,” she told Madamenoire. “When Mike and I think back to how this all started, it was just us filming content on his cell phone of our lives and business. Fast-forward to four years later, and we are in Season 4, preparing to air in 82 countries. It’s truly a testament that hard work, strong family bonds, and dedication are still valued.”
“Everyone can see themselves in us, no matter race, religion, or country,” Sherrod added. “We reflect a slice of life many folks can relate to.”

The popularity of “Married to Real Estate” is only a snippet of the good fortune Sherrod has under her belt. The radio-turned-TV fixture has a firm grip on what it takes to make boss moves, with success on the airwaves, her Egypt Cares Family Foundation nonprofit, and her Marriage and Money Podcast with Egypt & Mike podcast, in addition to her Indigo Road furniture and decor line.
As far as the keys to her success, Sherrod admits no move is made without her answering three questions that enable her to step into any venture with faith and gratitude.
“Before every endeavor, I ask myself three questions,” Sherrod explained. “Does it bring joy? It must bring joy to my family, clients, and community. Otherwise, why do it? Creating positive impact is tantamount.”
For the second question, the mother of three examines whether or not the project aligns with her life.
“If I cannot be proud of my actions and look myself in the mirror, then it’s a hard NO. I’ve been there before and am never going back. I’m just at that point where money doesn’t move me,” she told Black News. “Money is important, but I am not interested in it if it’s only about money. I’ve turned clients and projects down if I felt the energy wasn’t right,“ she said.

With the last question, “How can I serve God in this endeavor?” the result falls in line with Sherrod’s seeks overall professionally, and personally.
“I find that when I ask this question at the start of everything… He blesses it,” she said.
