
*Dwayne Johnson is set to be honored at the 8th American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors in February 2026, receiving the Entertainment Icon Award. The ceremony, hosted by comedian KevOnStage, will take place on Feb. 16 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Variety reports.
“Dwayne Johnson is the very definition of an entertainment icon,” said Nice Crowd co-CEOs and presidents Jeff Friday and Nicole Friday. “From his trailblazing career in sports entertainment to his extraordinary success in film and television, he has become one of the most influential and beloved figures in global culture. His journey embodies the power of perseverance, authenticity, and charisma — values that reflect the spirit of ABFF. We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Entertainment Icon Award and to celebrate his incredible contributions to the world of entertainment.”
The ABFF Honors will also recognize several other industry figures. Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson will receive the Renaissance Award, while director Salli Richardson-Whitfield will be presented with the Evolution Award. Additionally, actor Damson Idris will be recognized with the Horizon Award.
A special tribute will be paid to the creative team behind Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed horror film “Sinners,” which grossed $367 million worldwide. “This creative collective has crafted a work that captures both the power and poetry of the Black experience, marking another landmark in contemporary film,” ABFF said.
The 2026 ABFF Honors aim to recognize excellence in the motion picture and television industry.
