*Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has shared the serious health challenges that led to the cancellation of his North American, UK, and European tour dates last year.
As NME reports, at the time, the artist explained to fans that he went to the hospital after a show in New Orleans “to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” adding that it required surgery and time to heal. During a recent performance at Tyler, The Creator Camp Flog Gnaw carnival on November 22, Glover elaborated on the ordeal. “I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway,” he said. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’
Glover added, “And the first thing I thought was like, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx’ [who had a stroke in 2023]. That’s really like the second thing. The first thing was like, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”

Glover described facing further medical complications requiring multiple procedures. “I broke my foot, they found a hole in my heart. So I had this surgery, and then I had to have another surgery,” he told the crowd.
He reflected on the experience philosophically, saying, “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realise you have one. You should be living your life how you want. If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”
