*Disney and Pixar have released the first teaser trailer for “Gatto,” an original animated film that takes audiences into a stylized, cat-controlled version of Venice, Italy.
The clip opens in the city’s canal-lined streets, where a feline-run underworld operates beneath the surface of the historic setting. A key scene shows a tense but comedic interrogation involving several cats, setting the tone for the film’s mix of humor and adventure.
Mark Ruffalo joins the voice cast as Nero, a scrappy black cat navigating life in Venice’s hidden power structure. Laurence Fishburne voices Rocco, a dominant mob boss figure who controls much of the city’s feline underground.
The story follows Nero as he moves through Venice’s winding canals and superstition-filled streets while working under Rocco’s influence. Over time, he begins to question the path he has taken and the life he has built within the city’s shadow economy.

As pressure builds, Nero is forced into an unexpected relationship that challenges his loyalty and reshapes his understanding of purpose. That connection becomes central to his journey, as the city’s dangers and alliances shift around him.
The film is directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, the same creative team behind Pixar’s Oscar-nominated feature “Luca.” Their collaboration returns to Italian-inspired storytelling, this time through a fully animated feline world.
“Gatto” is scheduled for exclusive theatrical release on March 5, 2027. The teaser marks the first official look at the project as Pixar expands its slate of original animated features.
