*Disney has unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch,” offering a fresh look at the heartwarming story that captivated audiences over two decades ago. The film, set to premiere exclusively in theaters on May 23, brings a mix of nostalgia and new energy to the beloved 2002 animated classic.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, “Lilo & Stitch” tells the touching tale of a lonely Hawaiian girl who forms an unbreakable bond with an escaped alien experiment, ultimately redefining the meaning of family. The film’s screenplay comes from Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes, with Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin producing. Executive producers include Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher.
The cast features a blend of familiar and fresh faces, with Maia Kealoha making her film debut as Lilo and Sydney Agudong portraying her older sister, Nani. Chris Sanders, who originally voiced Stitch in the animated film, returns to reprise his role, ensuring the mischievous blue alien retains his signature charm. Rounding out the ensemble are Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, and Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham.
The newly released trailer gives audiences their first glimpse of Kealoha and Agudong in action, effortlessly bringing to life the sweet and spunky dynamic that made the original characters so beloved. And, of course, Stitch makes his grand entrance—still as adorable and chaotic as ever.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering the story for the first time, this live-action reimagining promises to capture the humor, heart, and ohana spirit that made the original a Disney favorite. Watch the new trailer above.
