“I don’t think that’s a good role model for 18-year-old Black girls.” That’s what TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk once said about Minaj. Yet there she was, front and center at the very event built on Kirk’s vision—smiling, clapping, and praising Trump like he dropped a remix.
DL Hughley Says Nicki Minaj Is “Everything He Was Against”
In a viral video posted around Christmas, Hughley went in on the contradiction. He played side-by-side clips of Kirk’s old interviews trashing Minaj, followed by her cozy sit-down with Erika Kirk, his widow.
“Nicki Minaj is virtually everything that the man who started that movement was against, yet she finds herself the keynote speaker at the very movement he founded.” Translation: they went from “not our kind” to “guest of honor” real quick.

Star Power Over Standards? Hughley Thinks So
Hughley called the entire moment “transactional,” saying TPUSA was happy to throw its morals in the recycling bin for some Minaj-fueled media attention.
He didn’t stop at aesthetics either. He dragged the movement’s double standards, pointing out how Charlie Kirk once pushed strict immigration policy, while Minaj herself is a former child immigrant from Trinidad.

Minaj took the stage at TPUSA on Dec. 21, praising Donald Trump and calling JD Vance an “assassin” (which she awkwardly walked back). She spoke about Christian persecution and told girls to “be proud of how they look,” while excusing boys for… being boys.
Critics said it felt like watching a fever dream from two different fanbases crash into each other at full speed.
Joe Budden Also Says “I’m Out” on Nicki Minaj
Podcast host and former Minaj fan Joe Budden had a full “I’m breaking up with you” moment on-air. On his Dec. 24 podcast, he said:
