*Cory Hardrict gushed about working with Tyler Perry on “Divorce in the Black,” amid reports that the film scored 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film also features Meagan Good and centers on Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.
As we reported earlier, the film has been panned by critics and received a rare 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. TMZ caught up with Hardrict to get his reaction to this score.
“I don’t know nothing about it,” he said. “I didn’t see that. I mean, the people love the movie and we do it for the people–that’s who I do it for. If the culture’s rocking with it, it’s all love. Shoutout Mr. Perry, I love Mr. Perry, though. That’s my guy.”
Hardrict said Perry’s latest Prime Video release is “the number one movie in the world.”
“I’m excited, man,” he said. “Number one movie in the world right now! Listen, I’m excited.”
The No. 1 movie in the world is “Despicable Me 4,” which earned $225 million in the U.S. and $449.4 million globally.
Hardrict said “… everyone has an opinion, and they’re entitled to it,” adding, “…as long as the people see it, my neighborhood see it, South Side, Chicago, L.A. see it, everybody see it, then I’m happy, it’s all love.”
Hardrict called “Divorce in the Black” the “most incredible experience” he’s had working on a film production.
“He takes care of his actors, it’s a loving set and we’re gonna do it again,” the actor said about Perry.
