*A January church worship disruption at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the Atlanta area is now drawing national scrutiny. The incident has raised questions about how federal laws protecting houses of worship are enforced.

Disruption Occurred During Georgia Worship Service
The church worship disruption took place at the edifice located in Stonecrest, Georgia, during a regular service. A man entered the sanctuary and began shouting toward the pulpit.
Congregants say the outburst was alarming and unexpected. The service was briefly disrupted as security responded.

Intruder Allegedly Traveled From Alabama
Bryant described the man as a white evangelical preacher who traveled from Alabama with his wife. He said the distance suggests the act was intentional.
The man allegedly accused church leaders of false teaching. He also verbally condemned members of the congregation.
“He drove all the way from Alabama to disrupt our services,” Bryant told WSB/Channel 2’s Audrey Washington.
Video of Church Worship Disruption Spreads Online
The confrontation was captured on video, including footage recorded by the intruders themselves. The clips quickly circulated on social media.
During the church worship disruption, the man shouted repeated verbal attacks. Church security escorted him from the building.
“Jamal Bryant, you wicked dog,” and “You’ll burn in hell,” the man is heard screaming.
Church Takes Immediate Legal Action
After the man was removed, New Birth officials contacted DeKalb County authorities. A formal complaint was filed.
In response to the church worship disruption, the county issued a no-trespass order. The order bars the man from returning to church property.
“We had DeKalb County issue a no trespass order to him,” said Dr. Bryant.
Bryant Says Disruption Crossed Criminal Lines
Bryant emphasized the incident went beyond protected speech. He cited trespassing, disruption of worship, and threatening language.
The church worship disruption, he said, reflects growing hostility toward faith spaces. He praised security for acting quickly.
“I’m grateful security sprung into action, but just concerned about what is taking place in the culture and environment,” Dr. Bryant explained.
Don Lemon Arrest Becomes Central Comparison
Bryant referenced the recent arrest of Don Lemon and others during a protest inside a Minnesota church. That case resulted in swift enforcement.
He noted Attorney General Pam Bondi publicly emphasized zero tolerance for worship disruptions. Bryant questioned why the Georgia incident has, so far, not produced similar action.

In early February, Bryant revealed he contacted Bondi directly. He called for consistent enforcement of laws protecting worship services.

As of early February 2026, no DOJ response has been reported. The case now stands as a national test of enforcement consistency.
