*Grammy-winning R&B artist Chrisette Michele has shared deeply personal news with her followers, revealing she has been diagnosed with autism.
As Vibe reports, the singer made the announcement in a June 15 Instagram post, sharing photos from a performance in Atlanta. The 42-year-old was direct with her followers, writing: ‘I just learned I’m autistic.’
She clarified the nature of the news, adding it was an “Official diagnosis,” and that doctors had described her condition as “severely” autistic.
The singer conveyed a sense of peace and understanding that the diagnosis has brought her. “My life and its challenges finally make sense. So so much sense. Autistic. Would you get a load of that… I’ll talk more soon. Just wanted to say hi… from stage side.”
Michele reaffirmed her commitment to her career and personal well-being in light of the diagnosis.

“I’ve been outside,” she shared. “Singing… but learning to strip the mask. One show at a time (the irony). Just… coming to grips with a lot and giving myself room to take it all in.”
Michele’s vulnerability was met with a wave of encouragement and praise from both fans and fellow artists.
