*A Coldplay concert in Boston this July turned chaotic when frontman Chris Martin’s jumbotron segment spotlighted Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot embracing. The moment, captured on video, went viral, igniting speculation of an affair.
As The Sun reports, Martin commented, “Oh look at these two,” as the crowd laughed. Byron ducked out of sight, and Cabot covered her face, prompting Martin to quip, “Oh what… either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”
The clip spread rapidly on TikTok and X, drawing thousands of views and harsh online reactions. One user wrote, “Sorry for the wife but glad they’re being exposed and embarrassed.” Another criticized, “They are both incredibly stupid, sorry. Why would you go to a concert of all places if you are having an affair.”
Astronomer placed Byron on leave on July 18, and he resigned the next day. The company stated on X and LinkedIn, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
During an August 19 concert at Kingston upon Hull’s Craven Park in England, Martin clarified, “It’s not, never will be, and never was a kiss cam. … We pick people out to say hello. And sometimes they turn up to become an internationally massive scandal, sure.”

He added, “Anyway, we send pure love to those people, and I wish them so well.” The night before, he referenced the “debacle,” saying, “Life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade.”
