*Violinist Brian King Joseph seemingly alluded to supposed improper behavior by Will Smith in public statements made days before initiating legal action against the actor. In December 2025, Joseph shared a video on Instagram that hinted at events he said occurred earlier that year while working on a major tour.
“Earlier this year, I was hired to be a performer on a major, major tour with somebody who was huge in the industry,” Joseph said in the video. He described feeling proud of the opportunity before adding, “Unfortunately, some things happened.” Joseph said he could not share specifics at the time due to legal concerns.
“I can’t get too into the details of exactly what that was because it’s already a legal issue right now,” he said, explaining his motivation for speaking out. He added that being “fired or getting blamed or shamed or threatened or anything like that simply for reporting sexual misconduct or safety threats at work is not okay.”
Joseph also addressed others who may have had similar experiences and were hesitant to speak publicly. “I understand, and if that’s you, I see you,” he said. ”And that’s pretty much it. More updates to come soon. Thanks for listening.”

Days later, legal action was filed against Smith and Treyball Studios Management. According to Variety, the lawsuit includes allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination stemming from Joseph’s work on Smith’s “Based on a True Story: 2025” Tour.
The complaint alleges Smith engaged in “predatory behavior” and “deliberately groomed and primed Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation,” Variety reports. Joseph initially joined the tour in November 2024 after performing at a San Diego show and was later invited to continue for additional dates and album contributions.
The lawsuit describes a March 2025 incident in Las Vegas involving Joseph’s hotel room. He alleges his bag containing his room key went missing for several hours and that management members were the “only individuals with access to [his] room.”
Joseph claims he later discovered items suggesting his room had been entered, including wipes, HIV medication with another person’s name, and a note reading, “Brian, I’ll be back no later [sic] 5:30, just us (drawn heart), Stone F.” He reported the incident to hotel security, Smith’s team, and police.
According to the lawsuit, Joseph was terminated shortly after reporting the incident. He claims the experience led to PTSD and financial hardship and is seeking damages to be determined by a jury.
