*Brandon Frankel, Gabourey Sidibe’s husband, is fiercely protective of the actress.
At the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards on February 27, Sidibe shared with PEOPLE that Frankel is always ready to defend her, both from real-life critics and online trolls.
“If you step on my dress, he will be here,” Sidibe revealed, MadameNoire reports. “Like, he’s in a feud with a lot of things. I have to be careful about telling him that somebody gave me an attitude because he’ll write them off forever.”
She continued, “He’ll beef with his grandma about me. And I deserve it. And I love him so much and I would beef with a lot of people for him too.”
Gabourey and Brandon met on the celebrity dating app Raya. After getting engaged in November 2020, the couple married four months later and welcomed twins, Cooper and Maya, in 2024.

Sidibe and her husband are relishing in the joys and challenges of parenthood as they embrace life with their twins. On November 16, Frankel shared an endearing photo on Instagram featuring Sidibe and the babies, expressing his deep affection in a sweet caption.
“The loves of my life,” he wrote, reflecting on the joy their children bring into their lives. He added, “No matter how tough things get, or how crazy the world becomes, the way you all light up when you see me just warms my heart. I love you all the most ❤️??.”
Sidibe echoed this sentiment with a playful post of her own, simply captioned “Weekend Fun,” PEOPLE reported.
