*Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams have been announced as co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala, joining longtime chair Anna Wintour. The event’s theme is “Costume Art,” and is scheduled for May 4.
Per Vogue, ““Costume Art,” curated by Andrew Bolton, will explore the relationship between clothing and the body beneath. The show—organized into a series of thematic body types, ranging from the Naked Body to the Pregnant Body and the Aging Body—will include garments and artworks from across The Met’s vast collection, and feature both historical and contemporary pieces from the Costume Institute. Moreover, “Costume Art” will be the first show held in The Met’s new Condé M. Nast Galleries, a nearly 12,000-square-foot space adjacent to the Great Hall,” the outlet writes.
“I wanted to focus on the centrality of the dressed body within the museum, connecting artistic representations of the body with fashion as an embodied art form,” Bolton said. “Rather than prioritizing fashion’s visuality, which often comes at the expense of the corporeal, ‘Costume Art’ privileges its materiality and the indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear.”

Fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello will lead the gala’s host committee with actress Zoë Kravitz. The committee includes Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Lena Dunham, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, A’ja Wilson, and more.
The Met Gala serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its Costume Institute in New York City. The gala will precede the corresponding spring exhibition, “Costume Art,” which opens on May 10, 2026, and will run through January 10, 2027.
