*Kimmie, portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams, transforms from a Chicago club dancer to the commanding matriarch of the Bellarie family in “Beauty in Black” Season 2, premiering on Netflix on September 11.
Her marriage to businessman Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross) positions her as the new leader of the Beauty in Black makeup empire, sparking tension among the family. “By the end of the season, Kimmie is on the verge of discovering a whole new level of power,” Williams told Tudum. The season, split into two parts like the first, promises a dramatic continuation of Kimmie’s journey.

Horace’s decision to marry Kimmie and name her his heir shocks his family, as he declares from his hospital bed, “Sons, this is your new stepmother. Oh yes — and she’s also your new boss.” His sons, Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), along with daughter-in-law Mallory (Crystle Stewart), ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), and brother Norman (Richard Lawson), are blindsided by the move. Even Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield), the Bellarie head of security and Kimmie’s former boss, is caught off guard.
Tyler Perry, the show’s creator, hinted at the escalating drama, stating, “We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family. Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”
Kimmie’s rise is fueled by her fierce loyalty to those she loves, as Williams explained: “It’s only when the people she loves are affected that she taps into her true power. We see that begin to surface after Rain (Amber Reign Smith) gets hurt, but it fully shifts when her sister is pulled into this world during Part 2.”

With the Bellarie name now behind her, Kimmie’s newfound authority sets the stage for intense conflicts. Fans can dive into the drama on Netflix, with more updates available on Tudum as Season 2 unfolds. The trailer showcases the brewing vendettas within the Bellarie family and their rivals. Eventually, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives. Set in Atlanta, the story brings together a wealthy Black family atop a hair care dynasty and an exotic dancer caught up in the seedy underbelly of a famed Magic City strip club.”
