*“Basketball Wives” Season 12 premiered with the type of energy that proves the VH1 franchise still knows how to serve drama and diamonds under pressure.
Held at Hubble Studios in Los Angeles, the after-screening panel was hosted by media personality Jason Lee, who described the show’s journey as “full circle,” reflecting on how “Basketball Wives” helped shape his early reality TV experience with Jackie Christie before “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” came calling.
While veterans like Christie, Brandi Maxiell, Jennifer Williams, Brittany Renner, and Meghan James pulled up in full glam, franchise staples Evelyn Lozada, Shaunie Henderson, and newcomer Chantel Christie were all noticeably absent. Newcomers, former WNBA star Ty Young and her girlfriend Ming Lee were in attendance as well, but arrived separately.
The biggest spark of the night came during the panel when Jennifer Williams took direct aim at Evelyn. “Happy hoes ain’t hating,” she quipped, before adding that Evelyn “has never had a successful relationship or been married — so she shouldn’t be giving advice to anyone.” Consider that shot launched.

Jackie Christie was in rare form, celebrating BET’s involvement and calling Season 12 “amazing.” James praised Shaunie Henderson’s vision, saying, “She turned this brand into an empire. I’m here to support that.”
Jennifer Williams said she keeps the “outside noise” out and lives by the mantra: “If you don’t like me, f*** it.”
When asked to describe the season in three words, Brittany didn’t hesitate: “Dysfunctional. Explosive. Authentic.”
The night ended with cast members naming their starting five from Basketball Wives history — with Tami Roman, Malaysia Pargo, Draya and of course Jackie Christie making multiple dream lineups.
If this red carpet was any clue, Basketball Wives Season 12 is set to be one for the books. Catch the new season of “Basketball Wives,” on Monday, May 5, on VH1.
