In our exclusive interview, Ashley opens up about life after her husband’s NFL career, the opportunities and challenges that come with reality TV, and the biggest misconceptions about the W.A.G. lifestyle. Plus, she shares behind-the-scenes insights on the drama, friendships, and what she hopes to showcase if the show returns for another season.
“This show is giving viewers an inside look at how life is now that my husband has retired from the NFL,” Wheeler explained. “We’ve kind of swapped roles, and it happened organically. Now he’s home with the kids. My kids are homeschooled. So they’re home every day with him. He doesn’t do the homeschooling. We have a teacher that does it, but he’s home with them. He’s taking them to all their practices. He’s doing all the home life things. It’s giving me the opportunity to go out into the world and pursue my passions and my dreams and my business goals,” she shared.
“W.A.G.s to Riches” takes viewers inside “how we’ve transitioned in life after the NFL,” Wheeler added.
What is a W.A.G.?
“WAG stands for Wives and Girlfriends of Sports Stars or Athletes. It means being behind your man when he is playing still. You have to be his cheerleader, first and foremost. You are his number-one cheerleader,” Wheeler explained. “But you’re also his chef, his masseuse, his therapist, his assistant. You’re all of those things. And on top of that, you’re running a household. You’re being a mother. You’re taking care of the home. You’re paying the bills. You’re making sure things are getting done. At the same time, we have to go after our dreams and our passions… you have your own ambitions and you have your own desires. I think that’s what makes us different. We’re not gold diggers. We are so many things. I think that’s why we are with the guys that we’re with.”

What are common misconceptions about W.A.G.s?
“I think a lot of people think it’s a glamorous lifestyle that we sign up to just be at home and go shopping and be frivolous and things like that. But honestly, it’s quite the opposite,” Wheeler noted. “When you’re married to an athlete, your life could change at any moment. There’s a lot of little things of everyday life that fall on us for them to go out and be able to handle whatever they have to do on the field. People don’t get to see that, but thankfully shows like W.A.G.s to Riches give that in-depth look at what life really is as a W.A.G.”
From building businesses to navigating friendships and family life, Ashley is proving that being a W.A.G. is about more than just luxury—it’s about legacy. Watch our full exclusive interview via the clip below.
