*Apple TV has released the trailer for “Cape Fear,” an upcoming psychological horror thriller that brings together some of Hollywood’s most celebrated names in front of and behind the camera.
The 10-episode limited series is set to make its global debut on Friday, June 5, with the first two episodes dropping simultaneously. New episodes will follow every Friday through July 31, exclusively on Apple TV.
The series draws from a rich source history. “Cape Fear” is based on John D. MacDonald’s novel “The Executioners,” which first came to the screen in the 1962 Universal Pictures film starring Gregory Peck, and later inspired the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg. Both Scorsese and Spielberg return here as executive producers alongside the new series.
Academy Award winner Javier Bardem stars as Max Cady, a notorious killer released from prison who sets his sights on revenge against the married attorneys responsible for putting him away. Academy Award nominee Amy Adams plays Anna Bowden, one half of the couple caught in Cady’s crosshairs, with Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Patrick Wilson playing her husband Tom. The supporting cast includes CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector, Anna Baryshnikov, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, and Malia Pyles.

Behind the scenes, Nick Antosca serves as showrunner and executive producer, developing the project through his overall deal at UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Antosca produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce for Amblin Television alongside Spielberg. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer.
Both Adams and Bardem also carry executive producer credits on the project, adding another layer of creative investment from the series’ two leads. Watch the “Cape Fear” trailer below.
