*Apple TV+ is set to launch “Pluribus,” a bold new sci-fi drama crafted by Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.”
The series, already greenlit for a second season, promises a unique blend of genres, centered on a deeply unhappy protagonist tasked with saving a world drowned in bliss. It premieres globally on November 7, with two episodes, followed by weekly releases through December 26.
Leading the cast is Emmy nominee Rhea Seehorn, known for her standout role in “Better Call Saul.” The nine-episode series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Gilligan and a team of executive producers, including Gordon Smith and Alison Tatlock, at the helm.
A teaser for “Pluribus” offers a glimpse into its quirky tone. It features a woman, presumably the “most miserable person on Earth,” licking donuts one by one before returning them to a box labeled “Help yourself! ;)” for unsuspecting takers. This mischievous act sets the stage for a story that balances dark humor with profound stakes.

“I’m excited for audiences to see Rhea play a very different character than the character she played on Better Call Saul,” said Gilligan, per Variety. “She plays someone who’s trying very hard to be good. She’s a bit of a damaged hero, but she’s a hero nonetheless. And it’s just a pleasure to work with her because she’s just the best, and she is so sweet and kind and talented. I can’t say enough good about her.”
Seehorn echoed his enthusiasm, saying, “I can’t wait for it to come out, though. Some of the stuff that audiences have loved about his writing, where it’s really rich characters but also him playing with the idea of tropes and genres and tone, and switching, like injected humor in a very dark moment — in this new show, he pushes that to a limit that was both very thought-provoking and upsetting sometimes, and other times, so, so funny. It really swings for the fences. I had so much fun.”
With “Pluribus,” audiences can expect a fresh, genre-bending tale that challenges conventions while delivering emotional depth and humor. Watch the teaser above.
