
*“I’m actually about to perform on the 26th at the 21st Black Music Awards,” said Angel Sessions a veteran vocalist, who just released her new single “Heaven” (Atlas Elite Entertainment/Awal/Orchard/Sony Music). “I’ve been nominated for three awards for my single ‘Well Done.’”
Another one of Angel’s singles “I Love How” debuted at #1 on the Amazon Music Chart for “Best New Releases” and it’s currently #2 for “Best New Release” and #4 for “Best Selling Contemporary Christian Music” on Amazon’s charts. Her new single “Heaven” is produced by multi-platinum selling Tizone (Antonio Street) and co-written by Tizone and Angel Sessions. Based in Atlanta, Georgia Tizone, also a music engineer, has produced projects for Keith Sweat, Mary J. Blige and R. Kelly.
“‘Well Done’ is up for Grammy consideration,” Sessions informed me as we talked about her hits..
About creating the “Heaven” single Angel said, “I felt the urge to write again. I prayed to God about what I should write…I decided to write about ‘Heaven’.”
The single starts with a high note, showing off Angel Sessions vocal range. Her audio video for the single, on her YouTube page, was just released a month ago and has already garnered over 15,000 views.
“It’s called a whistle note….like Mariah, she does that,” Sessions said when I commented on how wonderful the start of the single is.
As we continued to talk about the “Heaven” single Angel said, “My friend Antonio Street…we been working together since 2012. I had some beats of his. You have to feel the beat.”
Angel Sessions said she felt the beat, prayed on it and the result is the single “Heaven.” Sessions is part owner of the Atlas Elite Entertainment imprint, and she also manages her daughter Shardella Sessions’ music career. Her daughters single “Revoked” was considered for a Grammy Award in 2024. Angel Sessions has received an unbelievable 16 Grammy Award considerations. She was also named “Best Female Artist of the Year” by Northern California Entertainment.
“My daughter is nominated too (for a Black Music Award),” Angel added proudly. “Her first nomination for ‘Best New Rising Star’.”
“I would love to always be in the studio,” she said when I asked how often she records. “Every year I try to put out something new. I put out five (singles) this year, a 6th in December…I go into the studio soon for next year.”
Angel Sessions started in the music business working as a vocalist with The Whispers, H-Town, Teena Marie, James Brown and Eric Benet. She was later signed to Pittmoble/Ichiban Records, a label of producer Fred Pittman. She then signed with Volt Records before launching her own label with several partners. In Japan she is a very well-known vocalist.
