*Angel Reese addressed her critics during a recent Instagram Live, pointing out that the Chicago Sky doesn’t cover her major expenses, like rent.
“Hating pays them bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,” she said. “I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. Let me do the math real quick. I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary. $74,000?”
After a friend calculated that Reese’s salary doesn’t cover her $8,000 rent, the LSU alum said: “I’m living above my means!”
“Babe, if y’all thought… That WNBA check don’t pay a thing. Did that even pay my car note?… I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with that. I wouldn’t even be able to eat. I wouldn’t be able to live,” Reese added.

On social media, several people slammed the WNBA star’s lifestyle choices. One person wrote, “Why you paying 8k in rent lol. U need to get u a lil 2k a month apartment mama. It’s just you and u ain’t got no kids.”
Another X user added, “Bro 8k a month, someone needs to teach athletes money management lol especially on a low salary but fuck it we ball.”
A third commented, “Imagine earning $74K a year and knowingly signing an $8K a month lease. This one’s on her.”
One fan noted, “Her point is that she doesn’t make money off the wnba… it just gives her the platform she needs for her sponsorships and real money… not rocket science here.” Another X user wrote, “It is paying her bills, her endorsements are coming because she’s in the WNBA. Supplemental income should always be priority for everyone!”
