Adam Kinzinger Slams Trump Again With ‘Smells’ Insult
*Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger has reignited his feud with Donald Trump by mocking the former president’s alleged “bad smell” in new 2025 posts. Kinzinger, now a CNN senior political commentator, has used this recurring theme to challenge Trump’s alpha male image and leadership style.
He wrote on X: “Donald Trump smells really bad sometimes. Not constant but more than 70 percent of the time. It’s gross and dirty.” In a recent Bulwark podcast with Tim Miller, Kinzinger joked that perfumes with “Eau de Ass” 🙂 This theme has become part of Kinzinger’s broader critique that Trump’s image is performance rather than reality.

The “Odor” Saga Began in 2023
Kinzinger first went viral in December 2023 with a post: I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor. It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can.”
He later described it as a mix of armpits, ketchup, a butt and makeup—hardly a flattering scent profile.
He claims he noticed the smell during personal encounters at the White House and uses it as a symbol of what he calls Trump’s “gross and dirty” leadership style.
Trump Camp Fires Back
Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung dismissed Kinzinger as an unemployed fraud who farted on live TV. But Kinzinger doubled down, telling MeidasTouch: It’s not good. And nobody around him is brave enough to mention it. Comedian Kathy Griffin also said Trump had a distinct smell of body odor mixed with makeup and hair product, fueling the conversation.

Late-Night TV and 2025 Posts Keep It Alive
In September 2024 on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*, Kinzinger elaborated: “If you take, like, armpits, ketchup, makeup, and a little butt, it’s probably like that, all mixed up.” He joked that no one would want to wear “Trump cologne.”
By 2025, the posts had escalated. In March he wrote: “Dude there is literally no one I respect and fear less. He’s 78, stumbles up stairs, and ACTUALLY SMELLS.” In July he added: “Trump slathers on makeup, as a man. Never served his country either. Smells too. Lol. So alpha.”
Mocking Trump’s ‘Alpha’ Persona
Kinzinger says Trump’s smell is part of a bigger tell—his MAGA “alpha” routine. On September 28, 2025, he argued in a Threads thread that Trump’s macho branding hides weakness and insecurity. Kinzinger, who endorsed Kamala Harris in 2024 and spoke at the DNC, sees the odor mockery as symbolic of Trump’s unfitness.
Memes, Merch, and Supporter Reactions
Trump loyalists dismissed the attacks as “RINO” sour grapes, but anti-Trump voices turned it into a meme frenzy. T-shirts reading “I Stink” with Trump’s mugshot appeared online. Parody videos showed supporters sniffing the air, while a 1988 *Spy* magazine calling Trump “Stinky” resurfaced for historical shade.
Why Kinzinger’s Roasts Matter
Since leaving Congress, Kinzinger has built a reputation as one of Trump’s fiercest critics. His book, Renegade: Defending Democracy and Liberty in Our Imperiled Republic, warns about Trump’s threats to democracy. His “smell” comments may seem crude, but they keep him trending—and keep Trump on defense.
