*A$AP Rocky! You just came out of court with a victory in your felony assault trial. What are you going to do? According to reports, the “Trilla” rapper is honoring his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, with naming his next baby after him.
The news was also confirmed via a recent interview the attorney did with Extra TV (watch it below).
“Rihanna and Rocky said to me in the courtroom yesterday, they grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,’” Tacopina told Extra.
The baby news follows the not guilty verdict in A$AP Rocky’s case, which was handed down by a non-Black jury on Feb. 18. The 36-year-old Harlem, NY- bred entertainer was charged with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Once the verdict was read, the sound of joyous A$AP Rocky and Rihanna fans filled the packed Los Angeles courtroom as the ecstatic couple embraced each other and sobbed.
The winning verdict caps off a three-week trial that centered on an incident involving Rocky and his former friend A$AP Relli, whom prosecutors and their witnesses said were beefing. Upon meeting in Hollywood on Nov. 6, 2021, the rhymesayers got into a scuffle.
After the altercation, Rocky pulled a gun and fired twice at Relli, who mentioned that he was not seriously hurt, despite one of the shots grazed his knuckle.
Up next for Rocky is a return to normal life, with Today noting a scheduled headlining gig for the at the Rolling Loud music festival in March, followed by celebrity co-chairs duties at the Met Gala, in May the release of “Highest 2 Lowest,” which he stars alongside Denzel Washington.
The Spike Lee-directed crime thriller, which also stars Jeffrey Wright and Ice Spice is set for an early summer release.
