*A friendly meet-and-greet took an unfriendly turn for SZA after a fan threw a bracelet that made contact with her face.
According to Vibe, the incident occurred when the “Luther” singer brought her Grand National Tour stop to Glendale, Arizona. SZA was meeting and greeting fans at her NOT Beauty pop-up when a fan threw the bracelet in her face. At the time, she was signing something for another fan.
SZA’s reaction was captured on a TikTok video, which captured her being visibly upset and storming out of the meet-and-greet. She did not return, Vibe reports.
The bracelet incident involving SZA marks the latest situation where a celebrity has been unexpectedly pelted with objects, tackled, grabbed or gifted with personal items during events. Among those receiving the treatment are: Drake, Taylor Swift, Bebe Rexha, Pink, Kelsea Ballerini, Billie Eilish, Ozzy Osborne, Florence Pugh, Cardi B, Latto, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez, Steve Lacy, and Wiz Khalifa.

News of SZA’s situation triggered a reaction on social media, with users sharing their opinions while questioning the reasons behind such incidents.
“Who threw that?” annoyed fans in the video asked.
“So when are y’all gonna learn to stop throwing things at celebrities? This is not okay, and watching this video is so upsetting.. She did not deserve that at all,” one user tweeted, while another person expressed, “Sza is so sweet [broken heart emoji]. She doesn’t deserve this, some mfs got no self control wtf????”
“Like, at some point we’re gonna have to offer required self-control classes for fans across the globe,” someone else wondered.
All this time, SZA has not commented on the bracelet incident. Yet the impact of what happened has fans in San Francisco— the tour‘s next stop—afraid she may not appear at future pop-ups.

Weighing in on the incident, Not Beauty mentioned that while it was “unable to host the full activation and meet and greet,” its merch booth will still operate with products available for fans to buy. Fans followed suit in the comments of the in-feed post about the pop-up, begging SZA to come to the pop-up and urging each other to be “respectful.”
“Due to space restrictions at Oracle Park, we’re unable to host the full activation and meet and greet,” Not Beauty said in a statement. “However, our Not Beauty merch booth will still be up and running at Marina Plaza, and fans will be able to buy lip gloss and merch on-site. No ticket needed! Please note, SZA may or may not be stopping by.”
