Cloud delivers a naturally comical, charming and stellar performance. In the final credits of “Abigail,” there is a dedication to him, so we asked the directors how it felt to have worked with the actor in one of his last films.

MBO: We feel incredibly lucky that we got to spend a little time with him. He enriched our lives. He enriched everybody on the movie’s lives. He was so funny. As fans of his from Euphoria…we instantly knew the minute we Zoomed with him – about a year ago – we were like, ‘OH, MY GOD,’ he is going to be so incredible in this movie. He was a one of a kind human being. And he really delivered that on-camera. More importantly for us, off-camera, he was just so special. Just great. We’re just really sad he’s not going to be here to see people react to how great he is in this.

TG: …So real. That’s him. He just brings an authenticity to the film.

We also asked the stars how they watch scary movies.

MB: Usually by myself. I am a masochist in that way but during the day. It’s got to be daylight. Curtains open, like fully during the daytime.

AW: I cannot watch horror films unless it’s dark. If there’s a light in the back, no. You can’t get into it. You can’t actually be scared if the lights are on because…that’s the point. But I couldn’t watch it on my own.

KN: I like going with my friends and holding each other’s hands and screaming together…and making fun of me for barely watching the movie because I have my eyes closed. I’m also an ear plugger. I get a little scared. It’s also a really good excuse if you have a crush on somebody to hold their hand.

DS: I like to [watch scary movies] in a theater with a crowd. I love the feeling of an audience diving into a film and collectively deciding they’re going to scream and laugh together. There’s always someone who has a really weird shriek.
