*The world of John Wick is expanding in the form of the new “Ballerina” spinoff feature starring Ana de Armas.
In the action thriller, de Armas plays a Ruska Roman ballerina named Eve Macarro, who is seeking revenge against a group of hitmen who murdered her family. The trailer shows the origins of Eve and her meeting John Wick himself (Keanu Reeves).
“Ballerina” takes place in between the events of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4,” and hits theaters June 6, 2025. Watch the trailer above.
Directed by Len Wiseman, the cast also includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane.
“I’m very proud of it. It’s really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s sexy, it’s very John Wick,” de Armas previously told Collider of the series. “I think people are going to be surprised. I’m biased. Of course, I like the movie, but I think it’s really cool. It’s going to be amazing.”
Reeves has starred in four films across the John Wick franchise for Lionsgate since its debut in 2014. The most recent movie, “John Wick: Chapter 4,” earned $440 million worldwide, and there are reports of a potential “John Wick 5.”
Here’s the official synopsis for “Ballerina”: “The world of ‘John Wick’ expands with ‘Ballerina,’ as Ana de Armas stars as an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma.”
When de Armas appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” earlier this year, she spoke about filming “Ballerina.”
“We’ve been in Prague filming for four months,” she said. “We still have one more month to go. And I’m in pain. You know, my body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining, I’m sore, I’m bruised.”
“Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing these crazy stunts,” she continued. “And I’m like, ‘I can’t complain anymore.’ Because he is doing it. He truly is the best.”
