*Victor Martinez, a Hispanic radio station owner in Pennsylvania, told MSNBC that Latino male Trump supporters opposed Kamala Harris as president due to their stance on gender roles.
Martinez said, “A woman belongs in the kitchen” and that Latino culture often views men as providers and women as homemakers.
“The man, he’s the one, the provider. And we’re the boss, and we still, unfortunately, have a lot of Latinos with that mentality where the woman belongs in the kitchen,” Martinez told MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace.
His remarks highlight a shift in Hispanic male voters since the 2016 election. As SandraRose.com reports, citing recent surveys, 29% of Latino males voted for Trump in 2016, and 45% did so in 2020. Martinez noted that economic concerns were also a primary factor in why many Latino men in Pennsylvania supported Trump over Democrats this election cycle.
