On next week’s episode (airing Nov 1) … Fat Joe heads to Washington, DC to catch up with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.
Here’s an excerpt from Fat Joe & Mary J. Blige’s conversation:
Fat Joe: “I feel like God used you and your journey. Everybody got a different journey. You went through ups and downs, and he didn’t give it to you the way you wanted it right away. And you went through relationships and breaking up, and it’s sad, but the stuff that made you cry get these other women through their hard times. Your music influenced millions of women to get by. Did you ever feel or was there ever a moment that you felt like, God is using me as an example so that these women could get over whatever they going through?”
Mary J. Blige: “Absolutely. I would say, all the hell that I’ve been through in my life. It was not for no reason. It was not for just me to sit there and be like, ‘Oh, I’m fucked up.’ It was for me to use it as something to help other people heal. So if I’m going through everything I’m going through, it’s damn near killing me. It’s killing me to sing these songs. This is when I was feeling like this. But for whatever reason, God is using it to heal somebody in the audience, to heal this woman at home, to get somebody out of a bad marriage, to send somebody to college, help somebody be in a relationship for a long full long time. So of course I know exactly what my job is on this earth and what my assignment is on this earth.”
“Fat Joe Talks” airs Friday, October 25 at midnight on the STARZ app. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 10:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S.
