*The village of Dolton in Illinois has approved a resolution to enlist former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to investigate allegations of taxpayer fund misuse and other corrupt practices against its leader, Tiffany Henyard, known as the “Dolton Dictator.”
Lightfoot expressed feeling “honored” to undertake the investigation, New York Post reports. According to Fox 32, she will reportedly be compensated $400 per hour for her services.
“As someone who has made good governance the cornerstone of my career in public service, I recognize that maintaining the trust of those you serve and making decisions in their best interests is essential,” Lightfoot said in a statement.
“The residents of Dolton deserve nothing less than a government that is fully accountable, responsive, transparent, and effective stewards of taxpayer dollars.”
Lightfoot noted that her tenure as mayor of Chicago would enable her to offer impartial findings and recommendations. She suffered a landslide defeat in last year’s re-election bid.
The village board of Dolton voted to enlist Lightfoot’s services. Her responsibility will include providing regular progress reports to the board regarding the investigation into Henyard’s purported misconduct and extravagant expenditures, culminating in a comprehensive final report.

Henyard faces accusations of misusing taxpayer funds for personal benefit and terminating a former employee who leveled sexual assault allegations against her, New York Post reports. In her three-year tenure, Henyard has faced mounting corruption allegations, particularly intensifying recently following her admission of a $2 million deficit.
Henyard is additionally accused of misappropriating federal COVID-19 relief funds and has been charged by the board of concealing personal expenses paid for with village funds.
The FBI is reportedly investigating Henyard’s purported misuse of taxpayer money.
Despite the pressure, Tiffany Henyard has steadfastly declined to resign from her position.
