*Judge Greg Mathis claims he’s hunkering down at home for a while to reconcile with his wife after she filed for divorce.
In August, Linda Mathis pulled the plug on their marriage after 39 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who married in 1985, separated in July, and Linda is seeking spousal support, Us Weekly reports. Greg and Linda have four adult children (Jade, 39, Camara, 36, Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34,) and previously starred in the short-lived reality show “Mathis Family Matters” in 2022.
The longtime TV judge told TMZ he’s taking a break from working and is focused on spending more time with his wife after she voiced concerns about feeling neglected, The Jasmine Brand reports.
“It’ll take a few more months for me to stay home. I haven’t left home since the time I got in trouble with her. I put off all my speaking engagements around the country, so, I’m home,” Mathis shared with the outlet.
He previously spoke about making amends with his wife, telling TMZ in September, “I’m at the airport now flying out, as I have for 25 years. My wife has been third. Serving the community, taping my show, having fun with friends. This what happens guys…never be too busy, never have too much fun beyond your wife.”
In 2021, Mathis celebrated his marriage with a throwback photo of his wedding day. “Marrying Linda put me on the path in the right direction,” he wrote on Facebook. “I hope my journey is [an] inspiration to others.”
Mathis last mentioned Linda on social media in January when he posted photos of them during a holiday trip to Mexico. “Linda and I had a great time celebrating the holidays in Cabo. A great way to end 2023,” he captioned the photos.
In an interview with Baller Alert about their reality series, “Mathis Family Matters,” Judge Mathis opened up about his family dynamic.
“We are a whole family, a wholesome family,” he said. “We all have our flaws, but we don’t fight. Never have… If we have to fight, the answer is no [to returning].”
Linda added, “Black families are great families and no, they’re not filled with inter fighting… We want to have a strong influence on our community and show that.”
