*The stars of “Good Times” reunited on January 20 at the 2024 Urban One Honors.

Jimmie “JJ” Walker, Bern Nadette Stanis, and Ralph Carter came together to celebrate 50 years of the iconic 70s sitcom created by Mike Evans, Eric Monte, and Norman Lear. Check out the trio on the red carpet via the Instagram post below.

“Good Times” debuted in 1974 and ran for six seasons and 133 episodes. The series starred the late Esther Rolle as the matriarch of a family in Chicago’s Cabrini-Green public housing project. John Amos, who portrayed the father, made headlines last year due to controversy over his health care. At the time, Stanis publicly voiced her support for the TV star amid allegations of elder abuse.

Amos was hospitalized last summer after allegedly suffering “elder abuse and financial exploitation” at the hands of a caregiver, according to his daughter Shannon Amos. She claims the 83-year-old was placed in intensive care but did not disclose what exactly happened to him.

Shannon set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her ailing father.

“To catch and prosecute the alleged perpetrators, we now require legal assistance, hoping they face the full weight of the law,” the campaign reads. “Meanwhile, our priority remains my father’s medical needs and providing him a safe haven. His home had been violated, stripped of anything valuable. The cruelty inflicted upon my dad leaves me questioning what kind of human could commit such acts.”

John told TMZ that “the details laid out by his daughter Shannon Amos are a lie…no one is abusing him and he hasn’t been fighting for his life.”

Stanis discussed the difficulties of caring for an aging parent in an exclusive interview with People.

“John knows I love him from the core of my heart,” the actress said. “His children were lovely and have always been lovely. It just happened so that when you have a parent that you have to take care of or they’re aging, there’s a lot of fear amongst the siblings because you don’t know — it’s the first time and maybe the only parent. It hurts.”

Meanwhile, Urban One Honors will air on February 25 at 8p/7c on TV One and Cleo TV.
