*Rapper G Herbo received three years probation Thursday after pleading guilty to his role in an elaborate credit card scheme.

We reported earlier that G Herbo (born Herbert Wright) pleaded guilty to wire fraud and making false statements to federal agents. The Chicago artist allegedly used stolen credit card information to pay for his hip-hop lifestyle, according to the Chicago Tribune

In December 2020, Herbo and five others were indicted for participating in a credit card scheme. Per court documents, prosecutors said G Herbo used the stolen funds “to travel to various concert venues and to advance his career by posting photographs and/or videos of himself on the private jets, in the exotic cars, and at the Jamaican villa.”

G Herbo also spent thousands on designer puppies, according to the indictment.

The 27-year-old was reportedly facing 20 years in prison, but last week a federal judge sentenced him to three years probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $139,968 and forfeit the same amount in assets, and a fine of $5,500.

“On social media, Mr. Wright boasted an extravagant lifestyle. He gave the impression that his use of private jets, luxury cars and tropical villas were the legitimate fruits of his booming rap career as ‘G Herbo,’” Acting United States Attorney Joshua Levy said in a statement.

“However, his lavish lifestyle was shamelessly built on deceit and fraud using stolen account information that inflicted substantial harm on numerous businesses, leaving a wake of victims burdened with financial losses,” Levy added.

G Herbo allegedly benefitted from a $1.5 million credit card scheme, according to prosecutors who wanted him jailed for a year and a day in addition to probation.
