*Cory Haywood and Smart Fitness, LLC was recently announced as one of two service organizations commissioned by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA).
As a result, Cory showcased his expertise as a stretch therapist at the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Festival in observance of the MLK Day of Service. Cory Haywood is now an official DCA-commissioned healing artist.
Hundreds of people from the community enjoyed festivities, exhibits, great food, and music at the Freedom Festival.
Thanks to the Los Angeles DCA Performing Arts Division, they got to experience Cory’s Stretch Lab, where he demonstrated techniques to improve range of motion, and flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and increase blood flow.
Stretching was presented as science-based, therapeutic, and healing art.
Cory, who also goes by Cory the Trainer, is a certified stretch therapist, with additional certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the International Sports Sciences Association, and Stretch Lab. Cory Haywood’s Stretch Lab was located at the Freedom Village in the heart of Leimert Park which served as the ending point of the Kingdom Day Parade.
Congratulations are also for 4C LAB – A 501(c)3 arts organization that serves South LA and provides arts immersion programming. 4C Lab was also commissioned as a service organization for the MLK Day of Service.
Los Angeles Council Districts 8, 9, and 10 are responsible for the planning and execution of the Freedom Festival. Cory was both delighted and humbled to be commissioned by DCA for this reverent event and he is committed to health and fitness equity for all.
SMART Fitness is based in South Los Angeles in the Hyde Park area and was founded by Cory Haywood as a private training business and coaching program. Cory is also an influencer and rising social media star where he posts daily insights on relationships, fitness, and motivational messages for positive self-esteem for women of all ages. He also challenges men to bring the best version of themselves into their relationships.
