*Lionsgate’s exciting new western thriller, “The Night They Came Home,” is now streaming On Demand and digitally.
The film centers on The Rufus Buck Gang, an outlaw of Native Americans whose members were Creek Indian and African American. Danny Trejo and Brian Austin Green lead the cast, along with Hollywood icon Robert Carradine and newcomer Charlie N. Townsend as Rufus Buck.
The Rufus Buck Gang has served as inspiration for countless books and movies. Per History Defined: “The gang consisted of five members: Rufus Buck, Lewis Davis, Sam Sampson, Maoma July, and Lucky Davis. Rufus Buck was the leader of the gang and was considered quite dangerous.”

During Rufus Buck Gang’s short crime spree, they committed murder, robbery, and rape — until they were ultimately captured and executed in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in 1896.
“Inspired by true events, The Night They Came Home chronicles the ruthless exploits of the Rufus Buck Gang, a group of outlaws who clashed with the Indian Territory of Middle America at the tail end of the 19th century. The combined force of local lawmen and Indian police aim to take down a coldhearted band of fugitives with vengeance on their minds,” per the official synopsis.
Directed by Paul G. Volk, the film also stars Tim Abell, Jesse Kove, Kelsey Reinhardt, and Kassius Marcil-Green.
In a film review, We Are Movie Geeks noted that “The Night They Came Home” is “one of the few westerns being made these days, and worth checking out for genre aficionados.”
