*Cedric The Entertainer is set to star in Affion Crockett’s new comedy, “A Hip Hop Story.”
Crockett will produce and star in the music-focused feature along with Damaine Radcliff, Jevin Smith, Damien Dante Wayans, Lil Rel Howery, Wayne Brady, Lil Mama, and Norm Nixon, Jr., Deadline reports.
According to the outlet, the film centers on a “pioneer of the culture joins forces with a few of rap music’s elite performers to attempt to save Hip Hop and provides social commentary on the state of Hip Hop culture,” Deadline writes.
“A Hip Hop Story” will be distributed by AMCi distribution, which released “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and “Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce.”
Crockett will EP the project with Radcliff, Charlie Mack, and Talitha Watkins, according to Deadline.
“A Hip Hop Story is our love letter to the culture that shaped our lives. It’s a comedy with a message that encourages all of us to see our value,” Crockett said.
Mack added, “A Hip Hop Story is a wonderful journey over the span of 50 years, through the eyes of one of the forefathers of Hip Hop. The film explores where it came from and where the journey actually settles today. Enjoy A Hip Hop Story!”
“A Hip Hop Story” will debut at the 32nd annual Pan African Film Festival on February 7.
