Following the chat, which discussed overcoming personal obstacles and defying odds to achieve success, Jeezy met with attendees at the sold-out event and signed copies of his memoir – including actor and comedian Desi Banks.

Kirk asked the South Carolina native a few questions.

What made you want to transition to an author and write a book?
The whole duration of my career, I was an author because I did a lot of storytelling, and all my music was about things I was going through in real time. I learned early on that your words can transcend…people can fill them. What if I gave a book to the world that had some motivation in it?

What do you hope readers take from Adversity For Sale: Ya Gotta Believe?
The first thing is, if I could do it, any of you could do it. Just don’t give up. Don’t stop. It’s going through the hard times to get to the better times, and that’s what makes it worthwhile.
