*Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods have been tapped for recurring roles in Season 3 of Starz’s “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”
According to Deadline, Pierce “plays Ishmael “Snaps” Henry, a living legend on the street, former bank robber, and OG dealer who now acts as a mentor and financier for up-and-comers like Kanan along with his partner and wife, the love of his life, Stephanie ‘Pop’ Henry, played by Woods,” the outlet writes.
Per the series synopsis: “Set in the early 1990s, the third installment in the “Power” Universe tells the origin story of fan-favorite character, Kanan Stark, and follows his coming of age in South Jamaica, Queens. Raised by a single mother, who ruthlessly runs the family’s emerging criminal empire, Kanan charts out a path through some of the city’s most volatile streets while, at the same time, navigating his way through adolescence, which has its own dangers and pitfalls.”
“Raising Kanan” stars MeKai Curtis in the titular role of “Kanan” and Tony® Awards winner Patina Miller (“Madam Secretary,” The Hunger Games Franchise) as his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson first portrayed Kanan in the original “Power” series.
The cast also includes Omar Epps (“House,” Love and Basketball), London Brown (“Ballers”), Malcolm Mays (“Them,” “Snowfall”), Hailey Kilgore (“Amazing Stories”), Joey Bada$$ (Two Distant Strangers) and Shanley Caswell (The Conjuring). Antonio Ortiz (“High Fidelity,” “The Sinner”) has been upped to a series regular role returning as Shawn “Famous” Figueroa in the second season.

Deadline reports that Grantham Coleman is also joining season three of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”
Coleman will star as former inmate Ronnie Mathis, Unique’s older brother. Per Deadline, “Ronnie’s stoic demeanor belies a shocking ruthlessness. It’s not that Ronnie’s immoral, it’s that he’s amoral, conscienceless, unyielding and vindictive,” the outlet writes.
