*‘Love & Hip Hop” alum Tammy Rivera has revealed that it was her niece at the center of an assault case with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Peter Thomas.
On Wednesday, Thomas was found not guilty for allegedly drunkenly attacking and choking a woman named Chanel Williams at his Baltimore restaurant Bar One. According to The Baltimore Banner, the jury deliberated for less than one hour before acquitting Thomas, 62, of second-degree assault.
As The Jasmine Brand reports, Rivera took to her IG stories on Wednesday (March 1) and confirmed that she is related to the alleged victim. According to Rivera, Thomas won the case because he had a better lawyer.
“My niece didn’t want me to help her. She didn’t want me involved. She didn’t want me to help her with the lawyer or the case or anything. What it boils down to is he had Warren Brown [and] my niece had a state’s attorney, that’s what happened,” Rivera said in a video statement to fans and followers (see below).

Riveria went on to detail what occurred, claiming Thomas “put his hands on her, he choked her. She called me outside the restaurant crying, hysterically…and everybody who was in that club saw it,” she explained.
After the alleged incident, Thomas tried to apologize the next day, according to Rivera.
“Thank God that you had a little money to get you a good lawyer [and] get you off, but next time, it might not go that way…Get some help, cause it ain’t go be a next time.”

Meanwhile, Thomas reportedly testified that the woman accusing him of assault “caused an unnecessary scene,” writes The Jasmine Brand, and that “he tried to “ease her off” of him and she fell back into a lounge chair” the outlet adds.

As The Jasmine Brand reports, Thomas took to Instagram to speak about his victory in the case. “I’ve just walked out of the courthouse, and the verdict came back 12 out of 12 juries, not guilty. Keep on coming for me, but I tell them that I’m protected. Try to come for me in all kinds of ways but I’m protected,” he said.
“Now, when I don’t talk to ya’ll because I think ya’ll on some bs, don’t take it personal. ‘Cause, it’s stuff like this – it’s stuff like this that makes me stronger,” Thomas added.
