Paramount Drops New Trailer for ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’

*Paramount has released a new trailer for “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” giving fans a new look at the roster of Autobots.

This latest installment in the Transformers movie franchise is set in 1994 New York City. Per the synopsis: “Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth.”

Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theatres on June 9. Watch the new trailer above.

Caple Jr. spoke to BET about the film being led by “Black and Brown people,” and how this representation is so very important to the “Transformers” franchise now.

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” takes the Autobots, Maximals, and Terrorcons to the streets of New York, which Ramos said in the same interview is an added bonus “for all my homies in the projects.”

“We created something special, and it feels great to be in this position,” the director said. “We’re doing our best to carry this weight,” he added, noting how this new Transformers narrative will bring Black and Latino “culture” and “people” into a  franchise in ways that were lacking in the previous films.

In addition to Ramous and Fishback, the film also stars Tobe Nwigwe, Ron Perlman, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, and Pete Davidson.

When the teaser trailer was released in December, it nearly broke the internet with 494 million global and cross-platform views.

According to Paramount via TheWrap, the teaser outperformed the released “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” trailer (182 million views) and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” trailer (77 million).
