*BET+ has announced the action thriller “Call Her King,” starring Naturi Naughton and Lance Gross will premiere this summer.
The film, directed by Wes Miller, is slated to premiere on July 6 as a BET+ original.
As Deadline reports, “Call Her King follows Judge Jaeda King (Naughton), who has just sentenced Sean Samuels (Mitchell) to death when the courthouse is hijacked by Samuels’ brother Gabriel, also known as Black Caesar (Gross). The Judge must then rely on her wits, strength and skill to find a way to end the standoff, save the hostages and fight her way out,” the outlet writes.
“I am honored to have Call Her King join the BET+ family,” Miller told Deadline in a statement. “Their dedication to providing stories to the culture and for the culture is second to none. This film was a passion project for all of us involved and we are proud of the final product. This film is a testament to the strength and resilience of women, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share it with viewers.”

“Call Her King” also stars Jason Mitchell (Mudbound), Johnny Messner (A Day to Die), Nicholas Turturro (NYPD Blue), Tobias Truvillion (First Wives Club), Garrett Hendricks (FBI) and Shiobann Amisial (Bel-Air).
The film is the first production of Andrew van den Houten and Miller’s newly formed BlackLight Entertainment, Deadline reports.
Meanwhile, Naughton is expecting her first child with her husband, Xavier “Two” Lewis. The actress revealed the exciting news earlier this year. The former 3LW member and “Power” star shares 5-year-old daughter Zuri with her ex, Ben.
“My daughter is especially happy to be getting a younger sibling, so I’m excited to share this joy as a family,” Naughton previously stated, Entertainment Tonight reports.
“When I found out, I was shooting a movie and still on a high from my wedding, so it felt like the perfect way to start a new chapter with my hubby! I wrapped my two pregnancy tests in pretty tissue paper and put it in a cute little gift bag and told him I had a belated birthday gift for him,” she explained. “It was such a special moment.”
