*Comedian Mike Epps and his wife Kyra are renovating six properties they purchased in Indianapolis as part of a new HGTV series.

We reported previously that “Buying Back The Block” will follow the couple as they revitalize the street Mike grew up on.

Epps, his wife, and their expert construction team have transformed an abandoned firehouse into their new family home. He also overhauled his grandmother’s house on the same block.

“Kyra and I are restoring two homes on the block, one was my grandmother’s house from the 1960s,” Epps said in a news release.

“Our kids will see us work firsthand, nail by nail, to rebuild these homes and our community. Our goal is to inspire legacy and family for generations to come,” he added.

Epps shared the significance of the renovations in the new promotional interviews for the recently debuted home improvement series.

“This was about holding onto legacy. This was about holding on to what we come from…This was the initial start, and the beginning of a bigger dream and a bigger goal,” he explained, The Jasmine Brand reports.

“In order for us to get that into play, we had to get the awareness out so that we can get assistance from the state of Indiana, and the city of Indianapolis and get help,” Epps explained. “Our idea can only grow so far financially; and, community-wise, it’s going to take the help of the mayor; it’s going to take the help of the city to do what we were doing now on a larger scale.”

Over the course of a 12-week period, viewers will see Mike and Kyra rehab two properties. Watch the trailer below.
