Method Man and Tichina Arnold Star in New Audible Series ‘Yes We Cannabis’

*Method Man and Tichina Arnold star in the new audio-scripted comedy series “Yes We Cannabis.”

The 10-episode audio series centers on the founders of a cannabis start-up. Here’s the series synopsis: Feeling unfulfilled with his job as a pharmacist in Florida, George (Sam Richardson) quits and moves to California with a dream: start a legal cannabis company. With friends Brandy (Punkie Johnson) and Marcus (Langston Kerman), they are ready to aim high and stay high. But starting a business isn’t as easy as it looks—especially when you’re trying to run it with your dysfunctional friends. Yes We Cannabis follows the highs and lows of a cannabis start-up through the eyes of George and his two best friends. Throughout their journey, they encounter shady businessmen and the petty drama that comes with working with your friends; all the while juggling family issues, dating, and being Black in America.

The comedy podcast, from Audible and Broadway Video, features the voices of Sam Richardson, Langston Kerman, Punkie Johnson, Richard Kind, Laci Mosley, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Heidi Gardner, Tim Meadows, Rachel Dratch, and Chris Parnell.

“We made a list and we reached out to folks,” director Rochée Jeffrey told ABC Audio about pulling the cast together. “And these are the folks who responded and they were perfect for the roles.”

“It’s a ten-episode, half-hour comedy narrative series on Audible that follows three Black friends as they try to create a cannabis business in Los Angeles,” Jeffrey said, noting that the trio wants to crack a “really competitive business” that “has a lack of Black owners in the space.”

The show was created and written by Jeffrey alongside George K. Burns, who she says is the inspiration for the show.

“George was a pharmacist and he was working a 9 to 5. And then he decided to pursue stand up comedy. And in order to sustain himself, he started working in the cannabis industry,” she said. “There was some humor in that.”

“Yes We Cannabis” debuts Aug. 24 on Audible.
