Anthony Broadwater, wrongfully convicted of the r-pe of author Alice Sebold, who wrote The Lovely Bones, which turned into a movie, is now free. Anthony served 16 years in prison for the 1981 attack and will receive a $5.5 million payment from the state of New York. “Alice failed to identify him in a police lineup, picking a different man as her attacker. Anthony was nonetheless tried and convicted in 1982 after Sebold identified him as her rapist on the witness stand, and an expert said microscopic hair analysis had tied him to the crime. That type of analysis has since been deemed junk science by the US Department of Justice,” reports The Guardian. Social media is demanding Alice‘s head, “I’ve thought about this more than a few times since the story broke and everytime I get heated. She’s so thoroughly unapologetic about the life she ruined. He deserves every penny of royalties she’s made on that book,” posted one person. Journalist Carolyn Hinds wrote, “She stole 16 years of his life. She knew it wasn’t him and went through an entire trial process and conviction and never took back what she said. It’s unconscionable.” Mr. Broadwater needs more than your flimsy apology Alice; run him all your coins!
Jimmy Kimmel read an excerpt from Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman In Me when the pop star recalled meeting Mariah Carey. Britney wrote about the “otherworldly light” emanating from her dressing room: “At an award show, I knocked on her dressing room door.
