*We caught up with actor LaRoyce Hawkins to unpack his powerful season on “Chicago P.D.”
“Earlier this year, his character Kevin Atwater was caught by surprise when he reunited with his long-lost father “Lew” (played by Erik LaRay Harvey). Harvey returns in the May 3 episode of the show, titled “Bleed Valve,” which brings father and son together again to solve a shooting,” per a news release.
“Atwater’s worlds collide when there’s a shooting at the building he owns in Burnside, which leaves a child dead,” the episode description continues. “Atwater must confront his relationship with his father, as the brutal case forces them together.”
The hit NBC police drama was renewed recently for Season 11, Variety reports. “Chicago P.D.” hails from Dick Wolf, who has extended his overall deal at Universal Television through 2027.

Per Variety, Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television currently have nine series on the air, including the “Law & Order” franchise, the “One Chicago” franchise and the “FBI” franchise. Wolf’s series renewals at NBC include “Chicago Fire” for Season 12, “Chicago Med” for Season 9, “Law & Order” for Season 23, “Law & Order: SVU” for Season 25 and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” for Season 4.
“Universal Television has been my home for almost 40 years. It has been, and continues to be, one of the most successful partnerships in television, and I am thrilled that we are keeping the trains running another four years,” said Wolf in a statement.
Meanwhile, Hawkins first originated the role of Kevin Atwater on “Chicago Fire,” where he continues to recur. “Chicago P.D.” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. The season finale will air May 24.
