*We caught up with Hollywood hotties Gerard Butler and Mike Colter to speak exclusively about Lionsgate’s highly anticipated action-packed film “PLANE,” which opened theatrically on January 13.

Per the official synopsis: The movie centers on Pilot Brodie Torrance (Butler) teaming up with an accused murderer, Louis Gaspare (Colter), who was being transported by the FBI to rescue the passengers that were taken hostage on the war-torn island the plane crashed on. The unlikely duo finds themselves in the battle together and amid this dire situation, themes of redemption, justice and humanity start to unravel throughout the film.

According to Deadline, ”PLANE” got off to an early start Thursday with a $625K opening at the domestic box office.

Directed by Jean-François Richet, Vulture notes that “Much of Plane does not actually take place on a plane, but there’s little cause for alarm. The events on the ground maintain the basic, brute pleasures of the initial premise,” the outlet writes.

“In the white-knuckle action movie Plane, pilot Brodie Torrance saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island — only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning,” reads the “PLANE” synopsis. “When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare, an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.”

Lorenzo di Bonaventura serves as producer on the project along with Mark Vahradian, Marc Butan Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel.

Butler and Colter costar alongside Yoson An, Daniella Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor, Claro de los Reyes, and Tony Goldwyn.

When asked during a recent interview which scene was most exciting for him to film, Colter told Coming Soon, “… it was pretty entertaining the entire way.”

He added, “I think one of my favorite moments is where I’m trying to — and not to give too much away — I’m trying to save this man from himself (referring to Butler’s character). He’s doing some crazy things and it’s just insane. And I think that that dynamic was fun to play because you’re watching someone who you literally had to protect from themselves because they want do something that’s just unsound, fundamentally. It’s almost suicidal.

One of the major appeals of this film is the chemistry between Butler and Colter. EUR’s Ny MaGee spoke exclusively to the dynamic duo about the bond they formed on set which translates superbly on the screen. Check out what they had to say about their creative collaboration in the clip below.
